Spend a week in Western New York's Finger Lakes while you your learn new artistic skills and come away feeling refreshed
and revived!
The Finger Lakes have long been a destination spot for experiencing Arts and Wine. People come from all around
the world to breath in the fresh air, take in unbelievable vistas, taste a vast array of wines and experience art of all kinds.
Nestled in the valley at the foot of Keuka Lake is the village of Hammondsport, home to Somers Art Studio. Here
you can spend a week or more drinking in the beautiful surroundings while soaking up new and different techniques for creating
murals.

WHY MURALS?
There's a world of reasons for an artist to paint murals. The best of these is that a mural business prompts you
to paint nearly everyday which is by far the best way to improve your skills. But second to that is "what better way
for an artist to butter their bread while they move forward with their career?"
I have taught mural workshops to all levels of artists and muralists. Some attend to learn the basics and overcome
the many questions about how to conceive a mural, make a plan and implement it, pricing, etc. But most attend my workshops
because we explore how to paint effectively but quickly, yielding more income for your time. Using some of my techniques,
(and the hope is, some new ones of your own), coupled with a mindset that brings it all together, you can paint in one day
what most muralsists take up to 3 days to produce!
There's no reason why a good muralist can't easily come home with at least $350 each day they work! The workshops
are not geared towards specific styles and techniques. Although techniques are certainly what we'll learn, the
thrust of the workshop is using techniques to problem solve. You'll be able to approach any element in a mural and quickly
discern how to paint it using the approaches we learn in the workshop.
Sure, it'll be nice to finish out the week knowing new ways to paint a world of textures, but it'll be even more rewarding
to know you can sort out the techniques necessary to paint whatever crosses your path.
